Stephen Schwanbeck

Professional translator since 1998

I am a freelance translator from the State of Oregon, U.S.A., with dual French and American citizenship.

After graduating in translation from Lyon 2 University in 1998, I began my career as a translator in a Lyon agency, specializing in technical, medical and legal translation.

I have been working as a freelance translator since 2010.

In 2019, I was appointed a sworn translator by the Lyon Court of Appeal. This allows me to work for the French legal system and perform certified translations (sworn translations) for private clients (private individuals, companies and various members of the legal profession).

Because I love what I do and I take my job seriously, I belong to several professional translation associations (SFT, UNETICA, ATIECA, EXPERTIJ) and am a member of CEJL, which brings together the vast majority of experts approved by the Lyon Court of Appeal and Lyon's administrative courts. As such, I abide by the codes of ethics of each of these organizations.

What you can expect from choosing me to translate your documents:

  • 25 years of translation experience.

  • Specific skills.

  • Advice on translation process.

  • Complete confidentiality.

  • Delivery of the electronic versions of your translations via an end-to-end encrypted service.
